Metal Magic Metal Magic is a powerful low pH multi-metal cleaner/deoxidizer for most soft metals and Iron alloys but without the same health and safety concerns associated with mineral acid, peroxide or caustic products.Metal Magic is effective as it will clean and remove tarnish, oxide, rust and scale build-up off copper, brass, bronze, and steel within seconds and at room temperature! Metal Magic is safe because, unlike acid base products, it is non-fuming, non-corrosive, and non-regulated for transportation purposes. This product is classified as non-corrosive having been tested to have a corrosion rate at 0.6379 millimeters per year (MMPY). Tests were in accordance with NACE Standard TMO169-76 and did not exceed 6.25 mmpy at a test temperature of 55º C according to OSHA and DOT guidelines. Metal Magic is versatile to replace acid base products for soft metal cleaning in most applications. Avoid using Metal Magic at full strength on aluminum, galvanized metal or painted surfaces. Metal Magic is environmentally sensitive since it does not contain conventional mineral or organic acids used in similar products. It is rapidly biodegradable, non-carcinogenic, non-toxic and generally regarded as safe (GRAS). Metal Magic is typically used in dip tank applications for most hard surfaces to remove tarnish or oxides. It may be diluted 2 or 3:1 with water for less difficult cleaning such as spray and wipe applications. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning to avoid subsequent oxidation. Metal Magic is stable for up to one year or longer when stored as recommended. You will find Metal Magic useful for cleaning some of the following items: Weld burns and Bushings Coins and Castings Fittings and Frames Kettles and Lights Plates and Piping Pots and Pans Tubing and Tools Valves and much more !Storage and Handling: Adequate ventilation is always suggested when using any cleaning product. Do not get in eyes. Avoid prolonged or repeated skin contact. Avoid breathing a mist or vapor. Store in a cool, dry place. This product can attack aluminum, galvanized metal or painted surfaces, always run a check prior to using or if in doubt, contact your Tarksol representative.Disposal: Dispose of spent product per local, state, and Federal regulations. Test Conditions: Percent weight loss was calculated after metal coupons were immersed in Metal Magic SC ( Metal Magic SC is the concentrated version of Metal Magic and is six (6) times stronger, in concentration) for 48 hours at 37.8º C. Note: Although classified as a mild skin irritant by OSHA and D2B (mild skin irritant) under Canadian WHMIS, Metal Magic is like most acidic materials hence corrosive to certain materials. Concentration, contact time, rinsing and metal quality will all influence this product's effect on a surface. For this reason, and acid inhibitor is formulated into Metal Magic for additional protection where prolonged contact cannot be avoided.
1020 Carbon Steel A corrosion rate of 0.6379 millimeters per year was established for Metal Magic SC on this material (Metal Magic SC is the concentrated form). According to U.S. DOT standards, this product would be classified as "Non - Regulated" as it does not exceed the 6.25 mmpy threshold at the test temperature of 55º C when tested in accordance with NACE Standard TMO169-76. Metal Magic is "Non Regulated" under TDG as well.
